Hi Paul -

Experienced a problem with dabdig and wintv2k.exe running with wintvpvr350.

Recorded a programme on one channel using dabdig, but second recording later that night on different channel did not record. According to dabdig.txt, the previous instance of wintv2k.exe was open and hence it might fail.

I had set the dabdig.ini value to terminate previous sessions of wintv2k without confirmation (option 2).

I also noticed that when choosing the recording window style that corresponds to minimised, wintv2k.exe did not record, but hung. It works fine with both maximised and restored option.

Is it possible to terminate wintv2k after each recording, or would this cause a problem with consequetive recordings on the same channel?

Hi Mike,

Not sure why the 2nd did not record - unfortunately the call that I make to terminate doesn't return a reliable status.

I'll have another look.

Regarding Minimised start-up.

Yep - it is an issue with WinTV that I could include a work-around for.

For now - don't request that I start it minimised. I need to include some code that gives it a few seconds to get running and then minimise it.

I've come across wintvcap which seems just what I'm looking for, but when I tried to launch it with dabdig, it didn't seem to be sending the correct parameters - the channel number was in the wrong place, so it wouldn't start.

Has anyone actually got wintvcap and dabdig working and confirmed to you?

If so, what settings should I be using because I've pretty much left it as default (i.e. with the -c in place and it doesn't work).

I can send you my dabdig.txt & .ini if you want.

I do know of people who have been using WinTVCap with DABDig.

Could it be the difference between "channel" and "profile"?

Try changing the "-c" to "-p" in the dabdig.ini field WinTVCapCmdP1

Basically - find a way that works from the command line to WinTVCap - and then reconfigure DABDig to use the same technique.

Channel numbers in WinTVCap are not necessarily the same as in WinTV2K (etc)

From their site:

Preset = -p<Preset number or name>

- NOTE: THESE ARE NOT THE PRESETS FROM WINTV2000.

- They map to settings in the WinTVCap.ini file in the [PRESETS] section

- in the form of <Preset number or name> = <channel number

- For example:

- [PRESETS]

- FOX=2

- 50=10

Channel = -c<Channel Number>

- Maps to a frequency as described in the DirectX SDK docs.

- You can add "frequency overrides" to map each channel to an exact frequency.

- On the SHSPVR Forum There is an article on how to do this or on Microsoft's Site.

- NOTE: THESE MAY NOT BE THE SAME CHANNELS AS WINTV2000.

- NOTE: Channel 254 translates to the Video input.

- Channel 255 translates to the S Video input.

Thanks - got wintvcap working now - it was the -c instead of -p.
