I've got a problem with one channel when scheduling recordings.

Digiguide with Dabdig, recordings on DigiTV running the Nebula card on Freeview.

On BBC7 only (I only record radio programmes, so I only use three or four channels), the setting is sent OK, but DigiTV shows it with a channel of "Auto-Tuning" and then fails to record it.

For example, here are the last two lines from dabdig.txt:

02/09/2007 23:35:17 - 2.57b12 - "RECORD" "BBC Radio Four" "704" "Unmasking the English" "2007" "09" "03" "09" "00" "30" "Andrew Marr presents a series exploring English character traits in the past and the present, using examples both real and fictional. This programme features super sleuth Jane Marple. (New Episode, Repeated later)" "Documentary" ""

03/09/2007 10:05:02 - 2.57b12 - "RECORD" "BBC 7" "708" "Beast" "2007" "09" "03" "10" "15" "45" "Is a creature pulled from the sea near a fishing village harmless or a threat? James Fleet stars in Nick Warburton's play." "Sitcom" ""

The first of these worked fine and recorded the Radio 4 programme. The second set the timer but with the Auto-Tuning channel and therefore couldn't find where to record from. I'm not sure why this box has badly wrapped the log entries but they look OK in the file. Could there be something strange in the

Any advice? I'm sure it used to work OK but I can't think what changed (it's been like this for months).

Thanks

David

If you type 708 in the DigiTV GUI .. does it retune to BBC 7

If it doesn't then it implies that DigiTV needs a channel rescan.

If it doesn't ... then I can't think of a reason why DABDig itself would be making the problem happen.

You could try setting up some scheduled recordings using the DigiTV GUI to see if you can repeat the problem - but choose a mix of channels - not simply all from BBC 7 - to force it to retune.

Well, there you go - I never checked the simplest thing. I am receiving BBC7 on Channel 302.

I've changed the channel in DigiGuide and it's all working OK now. I am very stupid - thanks for the reply.

I suppose I should wonder why I'm getting BBC7 on a different Freeview channel. I'm getting Freeview via Winter Hill with BBC7 on the Channel 67 MUX. Why is it different?

It is a bit odd - since you have the right number for BBC Radio 4.

The numbers were moved to the 700 series a few months (maybe a year) ago.

Looks like when you did your rescan ... it picked up the new BBC Radio 4 but not the new BBC 7.

The rest of the parameters remained unchanged ... so ... you can either rescan in DigiTV or tell DigiGuide that you want to use 302. I'd go down the rescan route.

Now - 302 itself is odd ... because I don't think that is its old number. Perhaps a glitch during scanning.

DigiTV doesn't really care since it only uses the LCN (302 in this case) to look up its internal table of station parameters.

You're right - a rescan moved BBC7 to 708. I'm absolutely convinced that this was the first thing I tried when this symptom first happened, but either my memory is faulty or it didn't move at the time.

Thanks for your help.
