Hi,

I use DABDig with DigiGuide. I have just been upgraded to the latest

version, 8.2 b1026, of the latter, so installed DABDig 2.54b09. I

/think/ I followed the instructions, but got these errors:

#~#~#~#~#

Wrong parameters: Usage-"<StreamType>" "<ChannelName>"

"<ChannelAssignment>" "<ProgrammeName>" "<StartYear>"

"<StartMonth>" "<StartDay>" "<StartHour>" "<StartMinute>"

"<MinutesDuration>" ["<Description>" ["<Category>"]]

... do not forget the quotation marks - because of spaces in ChannelName and ProgrammeName etc

... Oh Yes - do not put the <> or [] signs in! The [] signs indicate optional parameter.

#~#~#~#~#

From DigiGuide reminder ...

dabdig.vbe "mp2" "$ChannelName" "$ChannelID" "$ProgrammeName"

$Timestart("%Y" "%m" "%d" "%H" "%M") "$Duration"

Can sometimes replace "mp2" with "mp3" to record smaller, lower quality files - check your recording program.

#~#~#~#~#

Also can sometimes replace "mp2" with "play" to listen rather than record When recording from Satellite - ChannelName should be <TransponderId/ChannelId>

#~#~#~#~#

Given command:

#~#~#~#~#

when I first ran it. Now, I can right-click on a programme in DigiGuide, and set a marker, but nothing is recorded. Any advice, please - I use this regularly every day!

Update: I have just restarted Digiguide, and, now, when I mark a programme in the future to be recorded, the marker disapperars almost immediately! When I click on a current programme, witha pre-existing repeating amrker, and re-enable it, I get this error:

Failed to append to log file - will continue without logging - Error:0x46 - Permission denied

The first message was just because you ran dabdig.vbe directly. It is simply telling you that it needs some parameters to do its job.

In itself it should not cause any problems because when it is run by DigiGuide it gets the right parameters (sent by the DABDig.dgmarker).

The 2nd error - implies that a copy of DABDig was already running. One copy opened the log file (dabdig.txt) and the next copy could not open it as well ... so it reported the problem to the screen and carried on without logging to the file.

If the marker disappears as soon as you enter it then it implies either:

a) the programme had already started

or

b) the Alert interval in DigiGuide was set to a number bigger than the difference between the programme start time and "now" (e.g. setting it to 10 days and trying to set a marker for something tomorrow).

In any case - things should still have worked.

In any case - upgrading should not have caused any such problems.

So - please send me your dabdig.ini, dabdig.txt and tell me what device you are trying to schedule into.

Resolved.

Guess above were largely right.

The real issue was that the application to drive the hardware was not running.

Config change suggested in DABDig to allow it to start it automatically if needed.

Hi, I'm also having trouble getting it to work with DigiGuide - is this the correct install procedure?

- Unzip DABDig to DigiGuide directory

- Double click on DABDig.dgmarker

- Right click on program in DigiGuide and select record using DABDig.

I was under the impression DABDig should then run and create the ini file? Nothing appears to happen. If I run dabdig.vbe directly it picks up my nebula card, then I get the same error the user had in the first post. Many thanks.

The steps you followed above are correct.

DABDig only runs when it really needs to ... so you won't see it as a permenantly running application.

The very first time you run it (i.e. when there is no dabdig.ini) it will try to see what TV/Radio software you have.

This detection works for the most common devices that DABDig supports - and it should work for the Nebula DigiTV software.

To verify - take a look in dabdig.ini and see which USE flags are set.

You should be UseNebulaDigiTV=1 and all of the rest set to 0 (unless you have or have had other software on your PC).

When you marked a programme for "Record using DABDig" via DigiGuide (DG), did you get a new icon on the DG screen?

If so - then it looks promising.

ABout 10 minutes (configurable) before the show is due to start you should see the icon disappear (or if running DG 8.3 beta it should fade out a bit).

This means that the request has been passed to DABDig and if you check the dabdig.txt you should see the request.

Within a minute or so, that request should then be in DigiTV.

Practice with asking it to record something that has just started (in that case it will action the marker within a minute or so).

Arh! I think it was to do with the "enable alerts between certain times" feature that was causing problems. I take it that DG has to be running all the time?

Not 100% essential - but that is the assumption that it is all built upon.

If you choose to shutdown DG - then there are other steps that you would have to follow to make this stuff work in a usable way.

DG is specifically designed to reduce its footprint when you minimise it.
